for 1975½-1993 Full Size Dodge Trucks
  (These trucks had Saginaw Type CV shafts as Original Equipment)

Dan the Gear Man Tech Note:  Dodge used Saginaw type CV shafts in full size trucks from Late 1975 to 1993.  All 3 joints on factory shafts used internal c-clips.  These shafts can be identified by the round flange that bolts to the transfer case with four 7/16" USS hex head bolts (5/8" wrench size).  Early shafts had 1-1/4" diameter, 16 full-length spline Detroit Universal slip yokes and stubs.  The seal was retained  by 4 bend over tabs.  In 1987, a 29 based on 30 involute spline slip yoke and stub was introduced and used through the 1993 model year. You may also find the original Saginaw type CV shaft has been modified with a different slip stub/yoke or replaced by a special Spicer built shaft.  The transfer case flange on Spicer conversion shafts is of half-round configuration.  If you need a kit for one of these shafts, give us a call.

*We have only found 7290 series u-joints in 1993 Diesel trucks, however Dodge does catalog this joint for both 1992 and 1993 gas and Diesel W250 and W350 models.  If you own a 1992 or 1993, we recommend you verify which u-joint you have before you order your kit.
