Differential Output
or Intermediate Shaft

On 1994-2002 trucks with the vacuum disconnect system, the Differential Output Shaft from the differential to axle disconnect has splines that mate with the clutch collar (sold below in option section).  These splines often get worn or twisted particularly on 1994-99 trucks. Wear on the Pilot that supports the Right Inner Shaft is also common.  Made in Mexico.  DDan the Gear Man Tech Note: We usually use the Spicer nomenclature of Differential Output Shaft, however, Dodge Parts Books and Shop Manuals refer to this shaft as the Intermediate Shaft.

HUB & BEARING KITS  The front wheel bearings on 1994-1999 Dodge 4x4 3/4 and 1 ton Diesel and Heavy-Duty gas engine trucks are of unitized construction.  They are not serviceable and no replacement parts are available for them.  If your front wheel bearings are noisy or loose, you need to replace the hub and bearing assembly with one of these original equipment  hub assemblies featuring Timken® Bearings and those all important studs.  Available in kits with or without required tools. These Hubs are for trucks with 8800 pound and higher gross vehicle weight (GVW).

Inner Axle Seal Kits  Whenever you remove the front axle shafts, inspect the shafts and axle tubes for any signs of differential fluid leakage.  It's a lot cheaper and easier to replace the seals than rebuilding your diff after it blows up due to oil starvation! Differential removal is required for most seals except the disconnect side on vacuum shift axles.  These are tricky seals to install, but you can do it with one of these kits!  A differential case spreader is definitely recommended but not absolutely required for differential removal/installation.  We also find a dead-blow sledge essential to reinstall the differential. Extra seals, differential cover gaskets, and RTV sealant are available separately.  Call us for information on additional tools required to disassemble the axle.

Please Read:  Until early 1999, NOK supplied the original equipment seals for Ram 1500-3500 Dodge trucks Dana Spicer axles. Right Axle Bushing and Bearing Set QK4625

Right Axle Bushing and Bearing Set includes the needle bearing that supports the Output Shaft and the plastic bushing pressed in the end of the right axle shaft on 1994-1999 Heavy Duty (8800 lb or higher GVW) Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks with the Vacuum disconnect system.  Dimensionally interchangeable with our QK4646 which was found in 1994-2001 light duty Rams. Made in U.S.A. Includes one bushing and one bearing.

Outboard Axle Shaft to Axle Housing Seals are found on many 1994-2002 Dodge 4x4 trucks. QU40362-2 is used on 1994-2002 1500 1/2 ton and 1994-1999 3/4 ton trucks under 8800 lb. GVW.  QK4629 is used some 2000-02 4x4 2500 and 3500 models.  Seal presses on inner shaft next to the yoke.  It's function is to keep dust and debris from entering the axle housing tubes.  Made in U.S.A.  Includes two seals.  Dan the Gear Man® Tech Tip:  To maximize seal life and prevent squeaks, apply a thin, uniform coat of a quality grease to the seal lip.

QT1065 Ball Joint Press Set greatly simplifies ball joint replacement on 2000-2002 2500 and 3500 4x4 trucks and solid front axle 3500 4x2 trucks.  Set includes heavy-duty, long throat, C-frame press, two receiver tubes, one installer, and press stub.  Adapters are available to remove/install ball joints on numerous other vehicles including all 1994-99 and 2003-up Dodge 4x4 trucks. Adapters to remove/install u-joints are also available.

Use this strong, simple and effective Tie Rod Separator to remove tie rods and drag link ends from steering knuckles, pitman arms, etc. WITHOUT damage!  Works slicker than the goose grease on most all tie rod and drag link ends on Dodge passenger cars, SUVs, and trucks.  The only application we have hade trouble with, is models with flat, metal reinforced seals such as those found on 1998-99 2500 and 3500 4x4 trucks.  On these models, this puller will work, but some seal damage will occur.

5 pound Dead-Blow Hammer is one of the handiest tools you will ever own for working on your Dodge 4x4 truck.  Indispensable any time a part needs a little persuasion.  Plastic face will not ding or damage critical component.  You might be able to wear one of these out, but in 30 years of professional service work, Dan the Gear Man  has yet to wear his out!
