Ford has used many variations of both
greasable and non-greaseable front and
rear Spicer type Double Cardan constant velocity propeller
shafts over the past 40 years. Until 1999 all full size
Fords had CV shafts using 1310 and/or 1330 series components.
1999 and newer Super Duty's are equipped with heavy duty 1350
series CV shafts with either 1350 or 1410 series slip yokes.
For certain model years, Ford used a plethora of shaft and joint choices
making positive joint identification without
taking measurements virtually impossible. To be absolutely
sure of ordering the correct kit for your truck, take the time
to measure what you have now. Farther down this page, we
have a detailed section on joint and shaft
identification. To further help you positively identify what
series you have, we have a
table of dimensions
for most of the joints used in Ford 4x4 propeller shafts.
CV Shaft Rebuild Kits rebuild your own front
constant velocity driveshaft with one of these comprehensive
kits. Each kit includes 3 universal joints, CV centering kit or
repair kit,
video, and instructions. Depending upon application, we offer
both
heat treated, alloy steel
greaseable or cold-forged, alloy steel, non-greaseable factory
lubed u-joints. Both are
the best production u-joints of their type that we have ever
found. As a rule, the greaseable joints are a little easier to
install because their flexible seals purge air as you press the
caps in. On the other hand, the non-greaseable types with their
factory synthetic lubricant and superior seals trap air under pressure during assembly which
helps keep contaminants out. Remember, a greaseable joint that
is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water
contamination. So, if you and your grease gun don't get together
very often, we recommend you select the non-greaseable version!

Rebuild Kits for Spicer™
CV Shafts with
Centering Yoke Style CV. Each kit
includes instructions, 3 universal joints and either a
ball repair kit or centering yoke. The ball repair kits require
a blind hole puller to extract the old ball seat from the
centering yoke and a press to install the new parts. If
you do not have access to these tools, order the appropriate kit
that includes the centering yoke.
1210 Series CV Shafts are found in Bronco II and Ranger
Pickups, at this time we are not stocking parts for 1210 series
shafts
Straight 1310 Series centering yoke
front CV shafts were used on 1967-77 Broncos and F100,
F150, F250 trucks 1976 and prior. Some 1976-1978 trucks
also used this series of shaft. The centering yokes are
greaseable on the shafts. (For optional kits with flush type
fittings in the 2 CV u-joint caps, see QK3061 or QK3062 on our
Jeep Driveline Page.)

1310 x 1330 Series
centering yoke front CV shafts are
mainly found on 1977-1979 F-series trucks and full size Broncos.
These shafts feature a 1330 joint at the slip yoke and a 1310
series constant velocity joint. The centering yokes are
greaseable on the shafts.
Straight 1330 Series centering yoke
front CV shafts were only used during the 1979 model year on
some Bronco and F150 models and almost all F250 and F350 trucks.
The centering yokes are greaseable on the shafts.
1330 x 1330SP Series greaseable
centering yoke front CV shafts equipped
some 1979 Broncos and all 1980-89 Broncos plus some 1979 F-150
trucks. These shafts have a 1330 CV , but the slip yoke
uses a 1330SP joint. The centering yokes are greaseable on the
shafts.
1330 x 1330SP non-greaseable
centering yoke front CV shafts are only found on 1985-1994
F350 trucks with front CV shafts. These shafts have a 1330 CV ,
but the slip yoke uses a 1330SP joint. The centering yokes
on these shafts are non-greaseable.

Service Tip:
Spicer CV joints have a CV centering yoke or flange yoke that contains a
pressed in ball and seat. We offer rebuild kits with
either the CV yoke assembly which is ready to install or a CV
ball repair kit which will replace only your original worn out
ball & seat (you reuse the yoke casting). The ball repair
kits are
tricky to install and you will need a 1"-1¼" blind hole bearing
puller and a hydraulic press. *Front joint at axle is
standard greaseable joint. |

Rear Drive Shaft Kits Each kit
includes 2 or 3 universal joints, and
instructions, plus, 1989-2002 kits also include u-joint strap kit(s), (QK3032,
QK3033, and QK3037 3 Joint Kits also include Boot
Clamp). Your choice of
either
hot forged, alloy steel greaseable or cold-forged, alloy steel, non-greaseable factory
lubed axle u-joints. Both are
the best production u-joints of their type that we have ever
