Original Equipment 4x4 Ball Joints for your 1999-2004 F250, F350, F450, and F550 Super Duty trucks with Dana 50 or 60 Monobeam axle are Made in U.S.A.. 1998½-2004 Super Duty Knuckle Seal Kit includes our heavy-duty T1515 Knuckle Seal Installer, Knuckle Seals, wheel hub to knuckle o-rings and lockout hub o-rings.  Seal replacement is required anytime the axle shaft is removed to prevent vacuum leaks and or water infiltration.  Use the T1515 for damage free installation of the knuckle seal on the outer axle shaft and then use it to seat the axle shaft assembly in the knuckle to the proper depth.

1998½-2004 Super Duty Knuckle Seal Kit includes  Knuckle Seals, wheel hub to knuckle o-rings, hub snap rings and lockout hub o-rings.  Seal replacement is required anytime the axle shaft is removed to prevent vacuum leaks and or water infiltration. Knuckle seals require installation tool T1515. (See next block for Knuckle Seal descriptions.)

Knuckle Seal Design Change

The original  1st design knuckle seal design (left) is unshielded and was used from 1999 to early 2002.  A 2nd design,  redesigned seal  with a shield on the inboard side (right) was introduced in 2002.  The seals are interchangeable on any any 1999-2004 Super Duty built after 3-21-1999.  Use only the unshielded style on axles built 3-21-99 and prior.

Knuckle Seal Installation

 Ford knuckle seals are the toughest seals to install we have ever come across.  The seal is of a complicated unitized design that is easily damaged without the correct installer.  In fact the knuckle seal is virtually impossible to install without damage unless a tool like our one piece, rugged 12 pound T1515 Knuckle Seal Installer is used to drive or press  the seal on.  Not only is the seal an extremely tight fit to the shaft, it also must be installed to a specific depth on both the axle shaft and in the knuckle.   A damaged seal will allow water to enter and vacuum to escape.  Our T1515 Knuckle Seal Installer can be purchased separately from our Ford Tools page or 4x4tools.com

Axle Shaft Bearings are pressed in the wheel hubs and support the outer axle shaft.   A critical, yet often overlooked part that should be replaced during many front axle service operations.  Kit contains 2 bearings (1 for each hub). Made in U.S.A.

Outboard Seal Set

Outboard Axle Shaft to Axle Housing Seals  press on inner shaft next to the yoke.  It's function is to keep dust and debris from entering the axle housing tubes. Made in U.S.A. or Canada.  Includes two seals.  Dan the Gear Man Tech Tip:  To maximize seal life and prevent squeaks, apply a thin, uniform coat of a quality grease to the seal lip.

Inner Axle Shaft Guide Set.  Super Duty front axles use easily damaged plastic guides to center the axle shafts as they are installed.  The guides are located adjacent to the inner axle seals. (Installed from the outside and pushed down the axle tubes.) Made in U.S.A.
