Front CV Shaft Rebuild Kits rebuild your own front
constant velocity driveshaft with one of these comprehensive
kits. Each kit includes 3 universal joints, CV centering kit, and instructions. Depending upon year, we have kits
available with either
heat treated, alloy steel
greaseable u-joints with metal backed seals or cold-forged, alloy steel, non-greaseable
factory lubed u-joints.

Jeep used Spicer 1310 series Center Yoke style CV shafts
on most CV equipped models starting in 1971. Up to
about the 1995½ model year,
Jeeps generally had fully
greaseable shafts while later models from 1995½-on
are non-greaseable except for some of the slip yokes.
To complicate matters,
some Jeeps have had replacement shafts installed
that are the opposite of original equipment so purchasing the
correct center yoke or ball kit can be tricky. The good
news is greaseable and non-greaseable universal joints and
centering yokes are pretty much interchangeable. All Jeep
front CV shafts are bolted to the transfer case with four 5/16" SAE
bolts.

Greaseable
CV Shafts. For
most 1971-1995½ Jeeps with
constant velocity front propeller shafts. Each
Rebuild Kit includes 3 heavy duty genuine Spicer®
U-Joints, CV
Kit or Centering Yoke, threadlocker, and instructions.
The two u-joints for the CV have flush lube fittings in the
cross
making lubrication very simple with a needle adapter on your
grease gun. As a lower cost option, you can substitute one of
our kits with joints that have regular zerk fittings in the
cross (see QK3008 or QK3010 on our
Ford Drive Shaft Page)
although it may be more difficult to lubricate your CV u-joints
in the confined areas of most Jeeps.

Service Tip:
Spicer CV joints have a CV centering yoke or flange yoke that contains a
pressed in ball and seat. We offer rebuild kits with either the
CV yoke assembly which is ready to install or a CV
ball repair kit which will replace only your original worn out
ball & seat (you reuse the yoke casting). Be advised they are
tricky to install and you will need a 1"-1¼" blind hole bearing
puller and a hydraulic press. |
