Dan the Gear Man®Service Tip: If you are experiencing erratic steering and the steering linkage is in good shape, check your axle-u-joints for binding. Place the front axle on jack stands. Unlock the steering column and turn the steering wheel all the way to  either direction. Lock the hubs in and rotate the tires. If an axle u-joint is binding, the tires will not rotate freely without moving the steering wheel. Also, inspect around the u-joint seals. If you see a rusty looking powder on any seal, that u-joint requires replacement.

 Axle U-Joint Kit

Axle U-Joint QuadKits™ come complete with your choice of greaseable or cold-forged, non-greaseable axle u-joints plus the special tools, small parts, and chemicals you'll need to do a professional quality job.  Both types of u-joints are the best production units that we have ever found.  As a rule, the greaseable joints are a little easier to install because their flexible seals purge air as you press the caps in.  On the other hand, the non-greaseable types with their superior seals trap air under pressure during assembly which helps keep contaminants out.  Remember, a greaseable joint that is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water contamination.  So, if you and your grease gun don't get together very often, we recommend you select the non-greaseable version!  Each kit includes 2 axle u-joint assemblies, ½" drive spindle or axle shaft nut socket, RTV sealant, anti-seize, Threadlocker, and disc brake lube.  Made in U.S.A.

INNER AXLE SEAL INSTALLATION KITS

Inner Axle Shaft Seal Kits  Whenever you remove the front axle shafts on your Jeep, inspect the shafts and axle tubes for any signs of differential fluid leakage.  It's a lot cheaper and easier to replace the seals than rebuilding your diff after it blows up due to oil starvation!  Differential removal is required for most seals except the disconnect side on vacuum shift axles.  These are tricky seals to install, but you can EASILY do it with one of these kits!  A differential case spreader is definitely recommended but not absolutely required for differential removal/installation. We also find a dead-blow sledge essential to reinstall the differential. Extra seals, differential cover gaskets, and RTV sealant are available separately.  Call us for information on additional tools required to disassemble the axle.

Inner Axle Shaft Seal Kit

Axle Shaft Seal Kits for 1984-96 Jeep Front Axles with vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) on Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and Wrangler (YJ) models.  The passenger side axle shaft seals on these models are almost impossible to install without our installation tools.  If you need to replace your axle shaft seals, this is the way to go!
Includes 2 each left and right axle seals, 2 seal installers,  alloy steel rod with hardware, rod guide, and CAD (central axle disconnect) gasket.
