New Process NP435 4 speed manual transmissions were built with either ball or tapered roller input bearings. Dodge used ball input bearings from 1966 to mid 1986 and a ball input bearing from 1986.5 to 1992. Ford used a tapered input bearing for all 1965-1987 light truck models. GM and International NP435's have a ball input bearing for 1964-1968 and a tapered input bearing starting in 1969. Two types of rear output ball bearings were used. Both have the same external dimensions. Most models have maximum capacity bearings with more balls, but Dodge used a deep groove, standard capacity bearing which can handle higher thrust loads for 1988-1991

QU51093 Deep Groove Type Input or NP435 Output Ball Bearing Was used by Dodge for 1988-1991 transmissions. It is dimesionally intercahangeable with QU51112. It can handle higher thrust loads due to its deep groove design, but only has 8 balls giving it lower radial capacity
