New Process used a number of different bronze and steel Front Output Nuts over the years for the 10 and 30 spline front output shafts. QK2040 includes the final production type NP205C Lock Nut and Washer.
To the best of my knowledge, this Nut Set fits all the factory Dodge and GM NP203 models, but only the early production Ford units. However, we and everybody else sold a lot of chain/sprocket update kits to replace the early production 2-1/2" wide low profile wide chain and sprockets with the stronger 2" wide high profile chain and sprockets. At the time, many customers with 10 or 30 spline shafts upgraded to the stronger 32 spline Kit we sold for late model Fords. Therefore, you need to verify how many splines your NP203 front output shaft has before ordering.
All the Shaft Nuts on NP203 and NP205 Transfer Cases are prevailing torque Lock Nuts. As a rule, these type of nuts loose a percentage of their locking ability every time they are reused. For maximum yoke retention always replace your shaft nuts when rebuilding your transfer case or performing yoke or seal service. NP203 and NP205 yokes are an easy slip fit on the shaft splines so it is not uncommon to find a yoke has worn into the washer. If your flat washer or flange nut shows ANY evidence of wear from the yoke splines, REPLACE IT!
