QK4656 Dana 60 Inner Axle Seal Installer Kit

QK4656 Adjustable Depth Dana 60 Inner Axle Seal Kit includes genuine original equipment seals and the special tools you need to quickly and easily install the QU40059 Inner Axle Seals to a variable depth to miss grooves worn in your inner axle shafts for all Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and International 4x4 trucks with open knuckle Dana 60 and Dana 61 front drive axles with King Pins. Our unique installer design will press in your new Inner Axle Seals without damage because the CNC Precision Machined Installation Tool cups the seal so force is only applied on the steel seal shell. Inner Axle Seal Kit fits 1975-1997 3/4 and 1 ton trucks equipped with King Pin type Dana 60 or 61 Front Axles AND 1992-1997 Ford F-350. Kit Includes (2) QU40059 Inner Axle Seals, QT1130 Thrust Plate, QT1042 Installer, QT1070 Press Nut, QT1133 Press Screw and QT9905 Retaining Pin.

tech note

Dan the Gear Man® Tech Note 1:
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40059 inner axle shaft seals.

Dan the Gear Man® Tech Note 2:
The inner axle seals used on all Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and IHC King Pin type, open knuckle Dana Model 60 and Model 61 Front Axles is the same. The seals and tools are different for 1976 and prior closed knuckle Dana 60 front axles and on all 1992 and newer Ford and 1994 and newer Dodge trucks with ball joint type Model 60 axles.

Dan the Gear Man® Tech Note 3:
QK4656 uses QT1042 adjustable depth installer which allows you to offset the seal to miss a worn spot on the axle shaft. This is a valuable feature, however, YOU have to determine the final depth of the seal. It is possible to seat the seal too deep with QT1042 installer which can put the seal beyond the machined seal surface of the axle shaft. We also offer QK4867 Seal Installer Set which uses QT1156 Model 60 specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the axle bore face when the seal is at the correct depth. This is a more fool-proof setup, but it is a little more expensive and you can not vary the seal depth to miss a groove worn in the axle shaft.
