4 Slot, Round Spindle Nut Kits.  The inner nut has a pin that engages one of the holes in the perforated lock washer.  The outer nut functions as a lock nut. Typical Open Knuckle Axle
All The Axle U-Joints listed in this section are for Open Knuckle axles (You can see the u-joint).  If you have a Closed Knuckle axle, call us for pricing.
Open  Knuckle Axles first appeared in the mid-1960's. By the mid 1970's, almost all domestic 4x4 vehicles up to 1 ton came with open knuckles.  Open knuckle axles permit a tighter turning radius and are less prone to oil leaks.  The Open Knuckle design is found on all  1977½ to current Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, IHC, and Jeep 4x4's with beam type front axles

Axle U-Joint Kits for Open Knuckle Axles. Choose from either hot-forged greaseable, or extra rugged Torque King® PREMIUM COLD-FORGED non-greaseable and cold-forged greaseable axle u-joints.  These are the best production u-joints of their type that we have ever found.  As a rule, the greaseable joints are a little easier to install because their flexible seals purge air as you press the caps in.  On the other hand, the non-greaseable types with their superior seals trap air under pressure during assembly which helps keep contaminants out.  Remember, a greaseable joint that is not regularly lubed will prematurely fail from water contamination.  So, if you and your grease gun don't get together very often, we recommend you select the non-greaseable version!  Each kit includes 2 axle u-joint assemblies.  Made in U.S.A.   Please Note:  The greaseable joints in our QK4518 Kit have flush type zerk fittings that require a needle type adapter fitting on your grease gun.  If you don't already have one of these adapters, order the QK4526 Kit which also includes a needle type adapter that will fit into your regular grease gun. 3 sizes available For Specific Application Information, Use the Link Bar at the top of this page to see our Front Axle Page for your vehicle!

*Dan the Gear Man® Service Tip:  The upper king pins themselves usually do not need replacement.  If yours are worn or rough, order the QK4550 kit which includes both upper king pins, a ¾" drive impact socket/hex bit, and high strength Threadlocker.  The king pin torque specified in the Dana Model 60 Axle Manual is 600 ft-lbs.

Bronze Spindle Bushing Set for 1940's to 1982  4x4's with CLOSED KNUCKLES.  These bushings were pressed into the spindle on most closed knuckle models.  Some trucks also had these bushings pressed into the end of the axle tubes to support the inner axle shaft.  Each Kit includes 2 Bushings.  Made in U.S.A. King Pin Shim Kits for Closed Knuckle Front Axles.  2 Sizes available.  QU40773 fits all 1941-1975 Dodge, Ford, GM, IHC, and Jeep 4x4's with Dana-Spicer Closed Knuckle Model 25, Model 27, or Model 44 using the small 8 Bolt Ball Seal and rectangular 4 bolt King Pin Caps.  QK4765 fits all makes of 4x4 trucks using Dana-Spicer Model 44HD, Model 60, or Model 70 Closed Knuckle Front Axles with the large 12 Bolt Ball Seal.  Each Kit includes enough shims to adjust one knuckle on most trucks.
