QU40077 Locking Rear Spindle Nut for Model 70 Rear Axles is a genuine original equipment, single use, replacement spindle nut for those 1980 to 1985 Ford 350 series trucks with full float Dana-Spicer Model 70 rear axles using right hand thread elastic stop type spindle nuts. Use with QU40089.

Dan the Gear Man® Tech Note: QU40077 Spindle Nuts and QU40089 Spindle Lock Wedges are "Single Use", genuine Ford and Dana Spicer original equipment components. These parts are designed to be installed once and only once. For safety reasons, you must discard both the nut and wedge if they are removed from the spindle for any reason. Both parts loose a percentage of their resistance to coming off when they are removed. You may hear of cases where this type of factory nut has come off while the truck was being driven. Invariably, these failures involve nuts and wedges that have been reused. I am not aware of a single instance of a properly installed new nut and wedge coming off like that. In my opinion, the original equipment nut design is as safe to use as our double nut sets sold above as long as you follow the rules. | |||
