Pinion Yokes

Ford introduced the Ford Sterling 10.25" Corporate rear axle in 1985 for both single and dual rear wheel F-250 and F-350 applications to replace Dana 60, Dana 61, and Dana 70 rear axles which were phased out during the 1985 model year. For the entire production life of the 10.25" rear axle, only two u-joint sizes were used, however the length of the pinion splines was changed for the 1993* model year to address excessive pinion yoke spline wear issues.

*Some late 1992 trucks may also have the longer spline pinion yoke

QU20067 Inner Wheel Bearing Oil Slinger is a genuine Ford original equipment part. Many 1985-1997 Ford Sterling 10-1/4" rear axles use one of these Oil Slingers between each inner wheel bearing and the spindles. The function of the Slinger is to deflect excess oil away from the wheel seal during operation. Four Bent over Tabs center the Slinger on the inner wheel bearing.

QU20343U Used Ford Truck Rear Axle Vent Fitting and Brake Block Bolt for 1988-1997 Ford Sterling Rear 10-1/4" Rear Axles is a good used hollow bolt that is used to attach the rear brake junction block to the axle housing and it acts as the axle vent outlet to which you attach the axle vent hose.
Spindle Nuts
Spindle Nuts have two functions and they are to provide for correct wheel bearing adjustment and to keep your rear wheel hubs in place. Ford 10.25" Sterling rear axles use a left hand thread nut for the drivers (left) side and a right hand thread nut for the passenger (right) side. We stock both the left and right hand thread original equipment single ratchet nuts for your Ford. Ratchet type Spindle Nuts are reusable, but they often need replacement due to weakening of the tension spring or when the nut separates during removal. Given the critical job these nuts do, you should always replace any spindle nut that is not in perfect condition. Link To Our Ford Web Page Index

QT1019 Rear Spindle Nut Socket for Ford F-250, F-350 Ratchet Type Spindle Nuts has a pilot shaft that slips inside the rear spindle to keep the socket centered on the nut.
     
     
Wheel Bearing and Seal Kits
1985½-1997 F250 and F350 trucks (except Super Duty models) with both single and dual rear used a 10.25" Corporate rear axle with the same wheel bearings for either model. These axles use a left hand thread ratchet lock nut on the left side and a right hand thread ratchet nut on the right side. The nuts are reusable but are subject to wear. The axle shafts seal with o-rings instead of gaskets. The wheel seals are of the oil bath type, but oil leakage past the seals is a common problem with this axle. There are several possible causes of leakage with a plugged vent hose and/or fitting being at the top of the list. Chronic leakage can often be traced to improper seal installation or a defective hub (seal bore is off center or damaged). Link to Vehicle Make or Category Links
